The percussion family is the largest in the orchestra. Percussion instruments include any instrument that makes a sound when hit, shaken, or scraped. It takes a lot of practice to hit an instrument with the right amount of strength, in the right place and at the right time!
Percussion instruments keep the rhythm, make special sounds and add excitement to any musical score. Unlike most of the other players in the orchestra, a percussionist will usually play many different instruments in one piece of music. It’s a great feeling to drive a band along with a funky beat or keeping an orchestra together with your solid timing.
We teach percussion in schools across the borough and at Bexley Music. To find out more email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or click here to make an application.
